Neonatal Intensive Care Units are specialized departments where specific treatments and care are provided in isolated areas to prevent the development of serious complications in newborn babies and to enable emergency intervention. These are medical areas established specifically to ensure that babies born after high-risk pregnancies, particularly premature babies, are safely reunited with their families in a healthy condition. The neonatal intensive care unit (neonatology) within Esencan Hospital, equipped with state-of-the-art technological devices, is the unit where the best possible care is provided to newborn babies.

The neonatal intensive care unit, designed according to international standards, provides services under the supervision of a Neonatology (Newborn) specialist experienced in procedures for eliminating and alleviating various congenital or acquired health problems, along with a team of Pediatric Health and Diseases specialists and Pediatric Surgery specialists. In addition to these medical professionals, each specialized in an area related to infant/child health, all healthcare staff assigned to the unit have received special training in neonatal intensive care.

In diagnosing newborn-related problems, the neonatology department collaborates with the central laboratory within the hospital to ensure that biochemistry, microbiology, and hormone tests are completed in a very short time.

The unit also uses mobile imaging and examination devices such as portable ultrasonography, portable X-ray machines, portable echocardiography, and advanced neonatal monitors that provide highly detailed findings for newborn monitoring. Additionally, the unit is equipped with mechanical ventilators (SIMV, VG, and HFO), biphasic nasal CPAP devices, incubators, and LED phototherapy devices.

At Esencan Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, basic and advanced mechanical ventilation with respiratory support is provided for newborns, along with all treatments required for intensive care such as phototherapy, blood exchange, and whole-body cooling therapy, as well as ophthalmologic and audiologic follow-up, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, and neurological monitoring.
