What to Do to Prevent Varicose Vein Formation
It may actually be possible to prevent varicose vein problems that occur with advancing age and are more common in women than men. However, it is necessary to take precautions at a young age and maintain these measures consistently. We are sharing with you what can be done to prevent varicose vein formation.
Exercise Regularly
Exercising for 30 minutes every day both helps you stay more energetic and prevents varicose vein formation in later years. You don’t necessarily need to go to gyms to exercise. You can also work the muscles in your body by using stairs instead of elevators.
Get Rid of Excess Weight
One of the most common causes of varicose veins is excess weight. By getting rid of your excess weight and maintaining your ideal weight after reaching it, you make a very serious investment in your health. It prevents weight pressure on the veins and allows you to move much more comfortably.
Pedal
Leg muscles play a very important role in the blood in the legs returning to the heart. At this point, regular pedaling will be beneficial for blood flow in the veins. You don’t necessarily need to ride a bicycle. You can also provide this blood flow and prevent varicose vein formation by doing pedaling movements at home.
Elevate Your Feet While Resting
Placing your feet higher than heart level while resting during the day also significantly reduces pressure on the vein walls. For this reason, you should make taking this position a habit while resting. At the same time, slightly raising the foot end of your bed will also be effective.
Cold Water
Applying cold water to your legs at regular intervals is also among the precautions you can take. Cold water, which causes contraction in the walls of blood vessels, will also help blood flow toward the heart. It also prevents the dilation of blood vessels.
Wear Protective Stockings
Using stockings that protect against varicose veins is also an effective method. These stockings, which apply pressure to certain areas of the legs, prevent varicose vein formation and the progression of existing varicose veins.
Avoid Hot Weather
Don’t go outside in very hot weather. Heat is among the main causes of varicose veins as it causes blood vessels to dilate.

Pull your knees up and extend them while swinging your arms. Do this movement for about a few minutes to warm up your body. Then you can proceed to the exercise movement that protects against varicose veins.
Pull your leg up from the knee, then extend your foot so it’s tense. While maintaining this tension, move your leg up and down. Do this movement 20 times with both legs.
Close your legs, rise and lower on your tiptoes. Do this exercise 20 times as well.
Touch the ground first with your toes, then with your heel. Apply this movement 20 times, constantly alternating.
Draw a circle in the air with one leg. Then do the movement with your other leg and apply 20 times each.
